Kind words extracted from Cafe Dharma

… Birds seem to be a feature for me at the moment so it should have come as no surprise to find a new cafe unexpectedly with that theme. We were looking for somewhere to have lunch and in many ways when you’re spoilt for choice it’s hard to make up your mind. Making our way through the half term throng of the North Laine and up Kensington Gardens we must have passed half a dozen really good cafes but I was on the hunt for something a bit different and maybe even new. Spotting Little Bird at the top of Kensington Gardens, my mind was made up straight away as it looked so inviting.

It’s only been open a few weeks but they seem to be getting into the swing of cafe life readily enough with a bustling lunchtime session already underway. Inside the style is simple with reclaimed wood tables and chairs and it’s cosy without being too crammed with the kitchen and counter to the back.

There are some wonderful looking multi- layered cakes in the window which stop many a passer by outside in their tracks while they peer in for a closer look.

Our lunchtime choices were home- made pea and mint soup with toasted ciabbatta and a toasted foccacia sandwich brimming with goats cheese, olive tapenade and roasted vegetables accompanied by a rocket side salad. A generous touch was a taster of chocolate brownie with our mugs of tea…
